Below you’ll find my best recommendations with links (not affiliated, I just wanted to make it easy for you!) for printers, laptops, and scanners. Overall, I suggest keeping it simple, using what you already have, and just starting your business with what you can!

The best part? You can get all three of these items for under $700 in total! They’re great for starting out as a notary!

PRINTERS – starting at $160

• My favorite brand for printers is Brother!
• You’ll need any laser printer, though. No inkjet!
• Black and white printer is best. No color needed!
• The more “pages per minute” the better for faster printing.
• Be sure it prints both legal and letter paper sizes.

LAPTOPS – starting at $350

• Any brand will do! I like HP and Apple laptops.
• Be sure it has multiple USB ports to connect to a scanner and printer and any other device you may need.
• A laptop with a long battery life is a must!
• Any that is easy to take on the go will be best since you’ll take your business mobile.

SCANNERS – starting at $190

• My favorite brand of scanners is Epson.
• Make sure the scanner can connect with a USB cord.
• Wifi connection is nice but not necessary.
• Look for pages per minute. The more the faster it scans!
• Choose one with a tray that holds least 20 pages.
• A scanner with the ability to be mobile is great, too!
